Viral Video of Alleged Sexual Assault of Disabled Woman in Bogor Under Police Investigation
A viral video recording featuring a narrative of an alleged sexual assault on a disabled woman by her own neighbour in Citereup, Bogor, West Java, has circulated widely on social media. The Bogor Police Department has confirmed that the case is under investigation.
“Yes, that’s correct. The report has been filed and we are handling it,” said Chief of the Women and Child Protection Unit at Bogor Police Department AKP Silfi Adi Putra when asked to confirm the matter on Monday, 2 March 2026.
Silfi stated that the investigation into the alleged sexual assault case involving the disabled woman is ongoing and has already entered the prosecution phase. The perpetrator, who is the victim’s neighbour, will be designated as a suspect during a case presentation scheduled for the near future.
“The case is in the prosecution stage; we only need to present the designation of the suspect,” said Silfi.
In the viral video recording, a woman recounted her sister-in-law’s account of discovering the perpetrator in the victim’s bedroom. The perpetrator, identified as a neighbour, had been hiding behind the victim’s bedroom door.
“When I looked, I was utterly shocked—behind the door there was a man without clothes. I saw this man was naked; he’s my neighbour. In the end, I couldn’t say anything; I just told him to get out,” the woman said in the video circulating online.
The woman in the video expressed hope that her sister-in-law would receive justice and that the perpetrator would be arrested swiftly. “That’s why I reported it to the police too. I am asking for help to ensure my sister-in-law gets justice, so this perpetrator doesn’t roam around freely, so he goes to prison and experiences the pain he caused my sister-in-law,” she stated in the viral video.
The post also received a response from the Women and Child Protection Unit of Bogor Police Department through its official account, indicating that the case would be pursued.
“Thank you for the information, Friends of the Police. Regarding this matter, we from the Women and Child Protection Unit of Bogor Police Department will immediately follow up on the report. For case updates, the investigator will send a formal case continuation letter (SP2HP) to the complainant,” the Bogor Police Department’s Women and Child Protection Unit wrote on its official account.
“We urge the public that if you see, know of, or experience any criminal acts or other public order disturbances, please immediately report to the Police Call Centre at 110 or WhatsApp Bogor Police Department at 0812-1280-5587. Every report received will be immediately followed up by the nearest police station or by Bogor Police Department,” it added.
