Viral Video of Alcohol Seller at Mataram Park Deemed Mere Content Creation

A video showing a vendor selling black wine around Taman Mataram on Jalan Sisingamangaraja, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, has gone viral on social media. The content showed the alcoholic beverage being sold from a cart in the park area. In several circulating videos, a number of people were seen buying the drink and consuming it in the park using jumbo-sized glasses, with no officials intervening to stop them. However, based on Republika’s observation at the Taman Mataram area on Thursday (16/7/2026) afternoon, there was no sign of a cart selling black wine as depicted in the social media posts. Only a few food and soft drink vendors were present around the park. When asked about the viral video, several traders in the area stated that the video was made purely for content purposes. One trader acknowledged that the viral video was filmed in the area but insisted the individuals were not actually selling alcoholic beverages. “It was just content,” the man, who declined to be named, said when shown the video. He noted that the content was created the previous Sunday and assessed that the drinks being sold were not real alcohol. “It was just fake, just for content. If it were real, they would be drunk and certainly chased away,” he said. Another trader also stated the video was made solely for content, arguing it was impossible for anyone to openly sell alcoholic beverages there. A park official confirmed the viral video was merely content and that no vendor was genuinely selling alcoholic drinks in the area. A security officer at the park admitted he was unaware of the content but confirmed the location was Taman Mataram, denying that anyone was selling liquor in the area he guards. “Just look for yourself, there isn’t any, right?” the officer said.
