Viral Video Narrating Alleged Extortion in Sentul Hill, Bogor Regency Responds
A video narrating allegations of illegal levies (pungli) on the climbing trail of a hill in Sentul, Bogor, West Java, has circulated on social media. The Bogor Regency Government (Pemkab Bogor) has explained the results of its investigation.
In the video viewed on Monday (30/3/2026), several visitors are seen walking along the trail. Then, a number of people stop them.
They are then seen conversing at the side of the trail. The narration states that the individuals stopped the visitors and imposed a levy by directing them to another trail.
When confirmed, the Head of the Culture and Tourism Office (Disbudpar) of Bogor Regency, Ria Marlisa, said that her office had conducted a check. According to her, the results found no evidence of pungli.
“We have conducted a check and found no allegations of pungli. It is true that in the video, there are officers directing visitors to switch to the official trail,” said Ria.
This is because, according to her, the trail shown in the video is unsafe for visitors to use. Therefore, they are directed to the official trail.
“Because the trail that was filmed is an unsafe trail for visitors to use,” she stated.
She said that her office aims to reduce the risk of accidents on the climbing trail. By directing visitors to follow the official trail.
“We hope to reduce the risk of accidents on the trail, so that visitors can follow the official trail, which is of course facilitated by insurance,” she concluded.
