Viral Video: Funeral Escort Strikes and Kicks Transjakarta Bus in Sawangan

JAKARTA — A video showing a man escorting a funeral procession striking and kicking a Transjakarta bus on route D41 (Sawangan–Lebak Bulus) went viral on social media.

The incident occurred on Jalan Raya Sawangan in Depok on Saturday, 14 March 2026, at approximately 17:30 WIB.

According to the video posted on Instagram account @sawangan_info, the long-haired man wearing a black shirt appeared to be scolding the bus driver and conductor, claiming the bus was blocking the ambulance carrying the deceased from proceeding.

“You turn over there,” the man said to the conductor and driver. “This is already blocked,” said the person recording. “It’s already far, still. You turn here,” replied the man in the black shirt.

Shortly thereafter, the man struck and kicked one side of the bus body, including the entrance door glass and side mirror.

In a separate statement, AKP Made Budi, Head of Public Relations for Metro Depok Police, explained that the incident began when a funeral procession escort, accompanied by several motorcycles, departed from Sawangan heading towards Margonda. However, upon reaching the BDN Sawangan Complex, the procession was blocked by the Transjakarta bus and unable to overtake.

In this situation, one of the funeral escorts exited the vehicle and approached the Transjakarta bus. He then complained, and subsequently struck and kicked the bus door glass.

“After the Transjakarta bus moved forward towards the Desari toll gate, the funeral procession was finally able to pass and continue their journey,” he added.
