Viral Video Claims Teh Botol Sosro Contains Soap

A video alleging that a carton of Teh Botol Sosro contained soap has gone viral on social media. It was filmed during a demonstration in Central Jakarta on Wednesday (28 October 2026).

As reported by detikHealth, the video shows a man claiming he found a gap or hole that released soap-scented foam when the straw attached to the carton was removed.

“Whenever we remove the straw, it must open. We also received reports from people at the front, and it smells like soap. When you squeeze it, foam comes out,” the man says in the viral video, squeezing the carton until foam appears around the opening.

Although he said he had not tried the drink himself, the man cited reports from fellow demonstrators who said it tasted like soap.

“When you squeeze it, foam comes out. I didn’t try it earlier, but several people who did said it was all foamy and tasted like soap,” he added.

The post prompted a response from PT Sinar Sosro, the producer of Teh Botol Sosro. The company said it was aware of the video and was treating the issue seriously.

PT Sinar Sosro’s management is conducting a comprehensive investigation to establish what happened.

“We are currently conducting a thorough investigation to understand the situation and establish the relevant facts,” the company said in a statement on its official Instagram account, @tehbotolsosroid, quoted on Thursday (29 October 2026).

“We are committed to reviewing all information carefully and objectively to ensure that appropriate follow-up action is taken,” it added.
