Viral Video Allegations of Child Prostitution at Lokasari Market in West Jakarta Under Police Investigation
Information about the allegations went viral on social media, as observed on Monday (25 May). In the viral post, a video was described as having been recorded by a Japanese national.
The video shows the person recording being approached by several individuals apparently offering prostitution services. In the circulating footage, they can be heard shouting and mentioning “seventeen” and “perawan” (virgin) to the person recording.
When contacted separately, Tamansari Police Precinct Commander Kompol Bobby M. Zulfikar stated that his unit had already initiated an investigation. Police also inspected Lokasari after it was alleged to be a location for prostitution.
“We received the report and inspected the location in relation to this newly surfaced video. We are still in the process of deepening our investigation,” Bobby said when contacted on Monday (25 May 2026).
Bobby stated that police had also requested clarification from local government officials and Lokasari market administrators. They denied that any child prostitution practices were occurring at Lokasari as alleged on social media.
“We have obtained statements from community leaders and Lokasari administrators stating that such activities do not take place there. They are also supportive of investigating the matter and reject such practices,” he explained.
Nevertheless, police continue to deepen their investigation into the allegations. Bobby reiterated that the inquiry is still ongoing.
“The investigation is still in progress and at the deepening stage,” he added.
