Viral Unattended Vehicle Parked for Two Weeks in Tangerang Prompts Police Investigation
A video circulating on social media shows a black Daihatsu Sigra bearing license plate A-1801-YI parked on the roadside at Gatot Subroto Street, Cibodas, Tangerang, which has been left unattended for approximately two weeks. Police are investigating the incident.
According to the video, the vehicle has been stationary along the road shoulder for an extended period. When contacted for confirmation, Rabiin, the Chief of the Jatiuwung Police Precinct, stated that officers had previously observed the vehicle parked at the location. However, he noted that the vehicle frequently leaves and returns to the spot.
“The latest information we have is that our personnel saw the vehicle parked there one day, then it was gone, and the next day it was parked there again,” Rabiin told reporters on Thursday, 12 March 2026.
He stated that police are still investigating when the vehicle was first parked at the location.
“But from my perspective, parking for a day or two there is reasonable, perhaps. However, if it has been parked for weeks, I haven’t encountered such a situation, which is why I’m confused about where this narrative is coming from,” he explained.
Rabiin indicated that officers would advise the vehicle owner regarding the matter. He stated that whilst the vehicle may be parked in the area, it should not be left on the road shoulder as it obstructs public facilities.
“We will find the best solution. If we locate the owner, we will advise them. Parking is permitted, but not on the road shoulder. Parking is permitted, but not on the pavement. Parking is permitted, but not in a way that obstructs public facilities,” he said.
He noted that personnel from the Jatiuwung Police Precinct are currently tracing the vehicle owner. Police have identified the owner with initials YN, residing in Suka Mantri, Pasar Kemis.
“Yes, our personnel are currently investigating. I have already communicated with the Traffic Unit Chief and with officers in the field to gather information. I have checked the vehicle registration at the Balaraja Motor Vehicle Registration Office and have obtained all identifying information. I want to know what the motive is behind this,” he concluded.
