Viral! UKP Tourism Team DM Requests Permission to Use Video, Creator's Firm Response Draws Attention

The figure of Canro Simarmata is currently making waves on social media after sharing a snippet of an Instagram DM conversation with the Presidential Special Envoy (UKP) team for Tourism. The conversation discussed permission to use content owned by Canro Simarmata related to the Torean trail. Based on the chat shared, the UKP Tourism team intended to use the content as material for publication on their official Instagram account. “Hi there, we are from the UKP Tourism team. We are pleased with your content about Torean and would like to request permission to use a clip from your Torean content as tourism information publication material to the public through the official UKP Tourism account. Thank you very much in advance for your cooperation and support,” read the message sent, quoted from Canro Simarmata’s Thread on Wednesday, 6 May 2026. Upon receiving the message, Canro expressed appreciation for the attention given by the UKP for Tourism. However, he also sent a rate card for using his content, amounting to Rp 10 million per video. “Dear UKP Tourism team, thank you for the DM you sent. I greatly appreciate the good intentions of the UKP Tourism side in publishing information and tourism potential to the wider public. I would also be pleased if my visual work could contribute to promoting tourism dissemination. However, please allow me to state that for the use of one of my video works, the rate I set is Rp 10,000,000 per video,” read part of Canro’s reply. Canro also explained that the Rp 10 million tariff he set was not without reason. According to him, the amount is adjusted to the difficulties he experienced in the field, including the drone flight permit processing which costs Rp 2 million per day. “This value is adjusted to the overall production process we carry out in the field, including operational needs during the climb, one of which is the drone flight permit processing that requires costs of around Rp 2,000,000 per day.
