Viral TNI Soldier Damages Shop in Kemayoran, Kadispenad Reveals the Trigger
From the circulating video on Tuesday (5/5/2026), the incident began with an argument between the female and male shopkeepers and a man wearing a black shirt and white helmet. The verbal dispute then turned into physical assault by the male customer.
Initially, the male customer attacked the female shopkeeper with punches during the argument. The male shopkeeper then tried to protect her by resisting.
However, the male customer struck the male shopkeeper again. He also smashed the shop’s display case using a gas cylinder.
The ice cream refrigerator was also destroyed. In the subsequent video, a brawl involving several people at the shop was visible.
Local residents appeared to intervene to break up the commotion. Shortly after, the male customer, who claimed to be a TNI member, was taken outside to distance him from the shop.
When contacted, the Head of Criminal Investigation at Metro Jakarta Central Police Resort, AKBP Roby Saputra, confirmed the brawl incident. Roby stated that the matter had already been handled by the TNI Military Police.
“Yes (we have monitored it). It has been handled by POM,” Roby said on Tuesday (5/5/2026).
TNI AD Reveals the Trigger of the Brawl
Separately, the Head of Information for the Indonesian Army, Brigadier General Donny Pramono, confirmed the brawl between a TNI AD soldier and civilians at the location. Donny also explained that the initial trigger of the brawl was suspected to be the shopping transaction process, which led to TNI AD soldier Sertu AW sustaining a stab wound.
“We need to explain that the incident began with a misunderstanding during the transaction at the shop, which then developed into an argument. In the incident, it was the TNI AD soldier named Sertu AW who sustained injuries from being stabbed by the shop owner, and he is currently receiving medical treatment at Hermina Hospital in Kemayoran,” Donny stated to reporters on Tuesday (5/5/2026).
Donny explained that the subsequent shop damage was part of the chain of events at the location where the situation had already heated up. However, he assured that the entire incident has been handled by the Central Jakarta Police Resort and is being thoroughly investigated by relevant parties to ensure the full facts are established.
“We urge the public not to be easily provoked by snippets of videos circulating on social media that may not fully depict the incident,” Donny clarified.
“The Indonesian Army ensures that any involved soldiers will be processed according to applicable regulations if proven to have committed violations,” he added.
He also confirmed that the situation at the location is now safe and conducive. His side is continuing to coordinate with police authorities to ensure proper handling.
