A video showing a person swimming in the pond at the Bundaran HI roundabout in Central Jakarta went viral on social media on Tuesday (16/6/2026), prompting a response from the police and Public Order Agency (Satpol PP). The footage showed the individual appearing relaxed while swimming in the middle of the pond, an area known to contain electrical cables at the bottom.

Upon investigation, Central Jakarta Satpol PP head Purnama clarified that the swimmer was not a member of the public, but a worker from the DKI Jakarta Parks and Cemeteries Department. He explained that the individual was a PJLP (Individual Other Service Provider) staff member conducting routine maintenance and inspection of the cables.

Menteng Police Chief AKBP Braiel Arnold Rondonuwu stated that his office had not received any official report of the incident but would coordinate with Satpol PP to investigate and issue warnings against unauthorised activities in the pond. Officials stressed that members of the public are strictly prohibited from entering or swimming in the pond due to the danger of electrocution from the electrical cables installed on the pond floor.
