A touching story has emerged from Indra Ardiansyah, a seventh-grade student at State Junior High School 3 Wera in Bima Regency, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB). The student often takes home meals from the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme distributed at school to eat with his four younger siblings at home.

Indra’s heartwarming story was first posted by the Facebook account @Aya, believed to belong to a teacher at SMPN 3 Wera. The video went viral and was flooded with comments from netizens.

The circulating video shows Indra packing the MBG meal from a container into a plastic bag. The video recorder is heard asking why Indra is packing the MBG meal.

In the video, the recorder asks Indra the reason for packing the MBG meal. “To take home to eat with my siblings,” Indra replies in the video viewed by detikBali on Thursday (7/5/2026).

Sri Nurhayati, the MBG Coordinator at SMPN 3 Wera, confirmed that this is not the first time Indra has packed meals to take home. According to her, Indra has been doing this for the past few days.

“During the MBG distribution so far, Indra often asks permission to pack the MBG portions allocated for absent students,” Sri told detikBali.

When they first saw Indra packing the MBG meal, Sri said the teachers thought he would eat it at home. However, after asking, it turned out the packed MBG meal was to be shared with his siblings at home.

“The MBG meal packed and taken home by Indra is to be eaten with his siblings. After learning this, several students even gave and relinquished their own MBG portions to Indra,” Sri revealed.

According to Sri, Indra currently lives with his grandfather, aunt, and four siblings. His parents are seeking livelihood in Dompu. Indra’s family is also in a financially disadvantaged condition.

“Indra is the most diligent student from a low-income family. He walks about 3 kilometres from home to school every day,” Sri explained.
