Viral: South Korean Media Reports on Travel Warning to Bali Due to Crimes Against Foreigners

For two consecutive days, various mainstream media outlets in South Korea have reported on the travel warning issued to South Korean tourists planning to visit Bali. This warning was announced by the South Korean Embassy in Indonesia, which has issued an early alert to all South Korean citizens intending to come to Bali. The official website of the South Korean Embassy states a Security Warning regarding the Prevention of Serious Crimes in Bali, uploaded on Wednesday (1/4). Subsequently, various foreign media in South Korea have made this information their headline news. Not only that, the official website also features various criminal acts and crimes in Bali targeting foreigners. The site explicitly mentions the types of crimes, namely sexual harassment and kidnapping. The sexual harassment victims are women from China and Australia, perpetrated by online motorcycle taxi drivers in Bali. Meanwhile, a murder case involving mutilation affected a Ukrainian citizen, and severe assault impacted a Dutch citizen. Even the locations of the incidents are mentioned in detail, namely in the Nusa Dua, Kuta, and Canggu areas. This early warning announcement is suspected to impact a decline in visits from the South Korean market to Bali. This is because South Korea is a potential market after Australia, China, and India. In the January to March 2026 period alone, there have already been more than 51,000 tourists from South Korea arriving in Bali.
