A video of a motorist engaging in a heated argument with a ‘silver man’ street performer has gone viral on social media. The altercation occurred in the Cideng area, Gambir Subdistrict, Central Jakarta.

It is believed the clash happened because the silver man tapped on the car while asking for money. The driver then asked the performer not to tap on people’s vehicles when soliciting donations.

The incident was recorded by a passenger in the car. The silver man performer is said to have continued to rage at the motorist.

The silver man is reported to have attempted to open the car door. Additionally, the performer is suspected of issuing threats.

Police officers from the Cideng Neighbourhood Policing Unit and Satpol PP from Gambir Subdistrict then searched for the silver man performer as a follow-up to public complaints.

“The officers have successfully reached the ‘Silver Man’ who was seen threatening in the video,” said Gambir Police Chief AKBP Agus Adi Wijaya on Friday (17/4/2026).

A joint team of officers secured the silver man performer to ensure order and public comfort in the community. Subsequently, he will be handed over to the Social Services Department (Dinsos) for rehabilitation.

The silver man performer was secured in the Tanah Sereal area, Tambora Subdistrict, West Jakarta, on Monday (13/4) night.

“This enforcement is a follow-up to residents’ reports and the implementation of Regional Regulation No. 8 of 2007 on Public Order,” he said.

Satpol PP also secured performers near Juanda Station a few days ago. Residents reported to Satpol PP because the presence of beggars dressed as pocong and kuntilanak was deemed to disrupt public comfort.

“We have found many modi operandi of beggars who exploit residents’ sympathy, even using certain costumes that instead disturb the comfort of pedestrians,” said Satpol PP.

Satpol PP reminded that giving money to beggars perpetuates the exploitation of children and the elderly, creates dependency, and disrupts public order and traffic safety.
