Social media has been abuzz with allegations of sexual harassment at the Faculty of Law (FH), University of Jember (Unej). A student with initials J is accused of harassing a female student with initials M through indecent photo visualisations.

The allegation surfaced after being posted on social media platform X and going viral. Victim M learned that her photo had been taken and uploaded with indecent visualisations since May 2024. The victim’s boyfriend, upon discovering this, sought clarification and urged the alleged perpetrator to delete the post.

Chair of the University of Jember’s Task Force for Prevention and Handling of Violence (Satgas PPK), Fanny Tanuwijaya, confirmed that the team acted swiftly. The victim has officially reported the incident and undergone an initial meeting with the task force.

“We have received the written report from one person and met with them directly,” Fanny stated, as quoted by detikJatim on Saturday (25/4/2026).

Although the task force has met with the victim, it cannot yet disclose detailed examination results. The campus authorities assure that the investigation is proceeding according to applicable procedures.

The Faculty of Law at Unej issued a firm response through an official statement. The deanship emphasised that there is no place for sexual violence on campus and fully supports the Satgas PPK’s actions. The harshest sanction of dismissal or Drop Out (DO) awaits if the perpetrator is found guilty.

“If during the examination process by Satgas PPK it is proven that a violation has occurred, then strict academic sanctions will be imposed in accordance with the applicable mechanisms and regulations, including heavy sanctions in the form of Drop Out (DO),” reads the official statement from FH Unej.
