Viral: Primary School Child in Bandung Bullied During Tarawih Prayer, Victim Sustains Injuries
A boy with the initials Z, aged 8 years, in Jatiendah Village, Cilengkrang District, Bandung Regency, West Java, is believed to be a victim of bullying by several classmates during a break in tarawih prayers. As a result of the incident, the victim sustained injuries to various parts of his body.
Dian Rohimat, the victim’s father, stated that the alleged bullying occurred on 26 February 2026. He said the victim was going to perform tarawih prayers at a local mosque. However, he admitted that he only became aware of the incident after a video recording circulated on social media.
“I found out from a neighbour, not directly from my child. It happened on 26 February when I sent my son to tarawih prayers,” he said when confirmed by a journalist on Monday, 9 March 2026.
He initially asked his son about his condition, and the boy replied that he had fallen. The victim sustained bruises on his legs that persist to this day.
Dian stated that the children allegedly involved in bullying his son, who is in the second grade of primary school, are friends from the neighbourhood. Some are the same age, whilst others are in the sixth grade of primary school.
“For three years since we moved here, whenever there is a problem, my child is often the target. This incident is not one or two times, but has happened frequently,” he said.
He admitted that he had previously attempted to resolve the alleged bullying matter through family mediation facilitated by the neighbourhood watch (RT) and district administrators (RW). However, this effort did not yield results, which is why he eventually chose to make it go viral.
Dian also expressed shock at the attitude of one of the parents of the children allegedly involved in the bullying, whose demeanour appeared confrontational. He said the parent invited him to lodge a report with the police if he wished.
He stated that he will soon report the incident to the police, as video evidence has already been circulated.
