In one of the posts on social media, there is mention of Pocong terror in Tangerang, specifically in Rajeg district. The act is suspected to be a modus operandi for burglaries of residents’ homes. In the circulating narratives, the figure resembling a pocong is thought not to be a supernatural event, but a criminal modus operandi. The perpetrators are said to deliberately disguise themselves to frighten residents into panicking and opening doors. It is stated that after the door is opened, the perpetrators will carry out criminal acts such as robbery. Responding to the post, Indra Waspada hopes the public remains calm but vigilant. He also asks the public not to spread information that has not been validated. “Increase vigilance, but stay calm and not panicking and not easily believing information that has not been validated by not spreading news whose truth is unclear,” said Indra Waspada, Tuesday (19 May 2026). According to him, such terror-like actions are suspected to be deliberately carried out to create fear in the community. The situation could then be exploited by criminals to carry out their actions when the neighbourhood is not conducive. “Let the public not become fearful, which is then exploited to commit crimes such as theft or robbery,” he said. Indra Waspada emphasised that, to provide a sense of safety to the public, Bhabinkamtibmas together with Babinsa and local community officials will increase patrols in residential areas, especially at night and into the early hours. In addition, the public is encouraged to re-activate the neighbourhood security system (siskamling) or night rounds as a precaution to protect security in their respective areas. “We also invite the community to revive rounds or siskamling. Community security is a shared responsibility,” he said. Indra Waspada stressed that the public should report immediately if they observe suspicious activity or anything that disturbs the surrounding area. Reports can be made to the nearest police station or via the 110 call centre, which operates 24 hours a day. Nevertheless, the police say they will continue to investigate the viral Pocong terror to uncover those involved and the motive behind the action. “We will continue to conduct in-depth investigations to determine who the perpetrators are and what the real motive is,” he concluded.
