Viral Pickpocket Gang at Jakarta Fair Kemayoran, Police Investigate

A viral video has depicted a pickpocket gang operating at the Pekan Raya Jakarta (PRJ) event in Kemayoran, Central Jakarta. The police have launched an investigation.

Based on the circulating video, the victim was seen browsing a tenant’s stall at the location. Several perpetrators were observed approaching the victim and are suspected of stealing the victim’s mobile phone.

“The victim has already filed a police report at the Central Jakarta Police,” said Kemayoran Police Chief Kompol Agung Ardiansyah to reporters on Monday (15/6/2026).

Agung stated that the police are still conducting an investigation. Officers are also attempting to locate the victim’s mobile phone.

“The investigation process is still underway, with efforts to hunt for the victim’s phone and conduct face recording (FR) of the suspected perpetrators’ likenesses from JIExpo CCTV footage,” he said.

Police have urged all PRJ visitors to remain cautious at all times. Agung added that the investigation is ongoing.

“We are making efforts to uncover the identities of the suspected perpetrators recorded on the CCTV,” he concluded.
