Viral Photo of Detainees at Soetta Airport, KPK: Transfer for Trial in Lampung
Jakarta – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has addressed a viral photo showing its detainees at an airport. The image was captured by a member of the public at Soekarno-Hatta Airport, depicting the detainees wearing the distinctive orange vests of the KPK. In response to the photo, KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo stated that the detainees were being transferred to facilitate an imminent trial. The suspects are involved in a case of alleged receipt of gifts or promises related to procurement of goods and services, as well as other receipts, within the Central Lampung Regency government. “This is part of the prosecution process, namely the transfer of the suspects to prepare for the trial,” Budi said on Wednesday, 29 April 2026. “The KPK Public Prosecutors’ Team is transferring four suspects for the case in Central Lampung, namely the Regent and his associates,” he added. Budi revealed that the suspects are scheduled to stand trial today, Wednesday, 29 April, at the Tanjung Karang District Court in Lampung. “As these suspects were previously detained at the KPK’s Merah Putih Detention Centre, for trial preparations, their detention has been transferred to the detention centre and prison in Lampung,” he explained. Case Background On 11 December 2025, the KPK officially named Central Lampung Regent Ardito Wijaya as one of five suspects in the alleged case of receiving gifts or promises related to the procurement of goods and services, as well as other receipts, within the Central Lampung Regency government for the 2025 fiscal year. In this case, the KPK alleges that Ardito Wijaya received a total of around Rp5.75 billion. Of this amount, approximately Rp5.25 billion is suspected to have been used to repay bank loans related to campaign needs during the 2024 Regional Elections.
