Viral Parking Attendant in West Jakarta Demands High Fees Under Pretext of Holiday Allowance, Transport Authority Issues Warning
Allegations of illegal levies (pungli) by a parking attendant who imposed high fees under the guise of holiday allowances (THR) have surfaced in the Sentra Primer Barat (SPB) area, Kembangan, West Jakarta. The West Jakarta Transport Sub-Department (Sudinhub) has issued a stern warning to the parking attendant. The attendant’s actions went viral on social media with a post showing a resident venting frustration over being forced to pay Rp10,000 for motorcycle parking during the Eid holiday period. “We have issued a stern warning to the parking attendant in the CNI West Jakarta area. Follow-up actions include issuing warnings along with socialisation. If not, we will conduct operations with the Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP) for enforcement,” said Head of Operations Section of Sudinhub West Jakarta, Agus Prasetyo, as quoted by Antara on Friday (27/3/2026). Additionally, they will coordinate with Kembangan sub-district apparatus and CNI area managers to discuss parking issues. “Later, we, along with relevant parties from the Jakarta City Government, will conduct a survey so that CNI area managers provide adequate parking facilities. In the meantime, we are taking action by warning the parking attendant,” he explained. Meanwhile, Kembangan Sub-District Head Joko Suparno stated that his office will take steps to handle parking in the Sentra Primer Barat Kembangan area. “If the DKI Transport Agency has taken action, we will also take action through the Tertib Rabu activity. Additionally, we will send a letter to the CNI area managers urging them to provide vehicle parking areas, both for four-wheeled and two-wheeled vehicles,” he clarified.
