Viral: Palangkaraya-Jakarta Flight Ticket Reaches Rp 200 Million; Garuda Indonesia Denies
A viral claim on social media that Garuda Indonesia flight tickets from Palangkaraya to Jakarta had reached Rp 202 million has been denied by PT Garuda Indonesia (Persero) Tbk.
A social media user on Thread (@sel.mon) initially shared a screenshot from an online travel agent (OTA) showing Garuda Indonesia ticket prices reaching Rp 202 million. The fare appeared to apply to an economy-class flight scheduled for Thursday, 19 March 2026, departing at 07:10 WIB on the Palangkaraya (PKY) to Jakarta (CGK) route.
“There’s this foreign OTA with extraordinary pricing. It even went viral last night. Palangkaraya to Jakarta for Rp 200 million on Garuda. It doesn’t make sense,” said Reza Aulia, Director of Commercial Operations at Garuda Indonesia.
Reza made the statement during an online press conference held by the Ministry of Tourism and Ministry of Transportation on Tuesday (17 March 2026).
“We can assure you that Garuda Indonesia has never set such fares through any Online Travel Agent channel,” he added.
For comparison, according to Kompas.com’s monitoring of Garuda Indonesia’s official sales website on Wednesday morning (18 March 2026), tickets for the same Palangkaraya-Jakarta flight were being sold at Rp 1.4 million for the same departure schedule.
To prevent the proliferation of unreasonable ticket price offers and promotional programmes outside official channels, Garuda Indonesia has also urged the public to ensure that all travel information comes from verified sources.
“This step is important to ensure information accuracy whilst protecting customers from potential losses due to invalid information,” said Dicky.
