Viral Padel Court Project in Depok Sealed, Satpol PP Provides Explanation
A padel court in Limo, Depok, went viral on social media after being cordoned off with Satpol PP lines and reportedly dismantled by unknown individuals (OTK). Depok City Satpol PP Chief Dede Hidayat addressed the matter.
“It’s not sealed; we put up the Satpol PP line because it doesn’t have a permit yet,” Dede said when asked for comment regarding the viral incident of the Satpol PP line being damaged by OTK, on Thursday (23/4/2026).
In the circulating photos, several Satpol PP officers are seen at a construction site. The location shows excavation pits typically used for building foundations. Around it, yellow Satpol PP lines are installed in the construction area.
Dede did not explain the incident of the Satpol PP line being damaged by OTK. He stated that the padel court construction site was visited and halted because it lacked permits.
“There’s nothing there. So they claimed they were processing the permit, we asked yesterday. Where’s the proof that the permit is being processed? It turns out there’s nothing at all, just the IPR, which has been confirmed. The owner has been summoned by us. That’s why I said, please get the permit first, don’t start building,” Dede told detikcom.
Dede mentioned that construction can continue if the permits are fulfilled. Conversely, if the owner does not process the permitting, the padel court construction project will be sealed.
“There’s nothing, so I reminded them that they don’t have the permit yet, we put up the Satpol PP line. If they don’t process the permit, it will be sealed. But he (the owner) shows good faith, saying he is processing the permit and wants to stop the activities (construction),” Dede said.
