Viral Motorcyclist Threatens Residents After Being Warned for Driving the Wrong Way in South Jakarta, Police Probe

A video circulating on social media shows a motorcyclist threatening residents in Pondok Labu, Cilandak, South Jakarta, and holding a rock as the filming bystanders captured the incident. The footage, viewed on Friday (6 March 2026), reportedly occurred on Thursday (5 February). The rider is seen approaching residents who were filming. It is described that the filmer was initially passing along the road, then saw the rider going against the traffic. The filmer honked as a warning, but the motorcyclist approached with a rock and a wooden stake to threaten the filmer. After the incident, the rider walked away, continuing to drive against the flow of traffic. When asked for confirmation, Cilandak Police Sector chief Kompol Gusprihatin Zen said officers had checked the scene. They will follow up, even though the victim had not filed a report. ‘Not yet reported, so we will follow up. We will look for any witnesses or anyone who saw it,’ Gusprihatin said. A search for witnesses at the scene is ongoing. He urged the public to report similar incidents or other security disturbances immediately. ‘A public appeal to the wider community: if you see any kamtibmas (public order) disturbances, just call the call centre 110,’ he said.
