Viral Motorcycle Convoy Damages Casablanca Elevated Road Portal, 11 Motorcycles Seized
The Jakarta Metropolitan Police Traffic Directorate (Ditlantas Polda Metro Jaya) has secured 11 of the dozens of motorcycles involved in a convoy that damaged the portal of the Casablanca Non-Toll Elevated Road (JLNT) in South Jakarta.
Head of the Traffic Law Enforcement Sub-directorate at the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Senior Commissioner Ojo Ruslani, said the motorcycles were secured on Monday evening (23 February).
“Eleven motorcycles from the dozens seen in the video have been successfully secured,” Ojo told reporters on Tuesday (24 February).
However, Ojo did not elaborate further on the motorcycle convoy. He said the riders are currently still undergoing examination.
“Last night they were under examination,” he said.
The motorcycle convoy’s act of damaging the JLNT Casablanca portal was captured on video and circulated widely on social media.
In the circulating footage, one of the riders can be seen burning the rope securing the JLNT Casablanca portal. After the portal was opened, the group of motorcyclists rode en masse along the elevated road.
The video also narrated that the group’s actions were carried out for the purpose of creating content.
Motorcycles and two-wheeled vehicles are prohibited from using the JLNT Casablanca. The elevated road is designated exclusively for four-wheeled vehicles or larger.
