Jakarta — A video showing a woman restrained on a bed at Soeharto Heerdjan Psychiatric Hospital in Grogol Petamburan, West Jakarta, went viral on social media. In the clip posted by the Instagram account @moodindo.news, the woman’s mother is seen questioning why the woman, wearing pink clothing and shorts, is in a psychiatric hospital. At the time the video was recorded, the woman appeared to be restrained by hospital staff. The caption on the post states: ‘A mother is furious because her healthy child has been admitted to a psychiatric hospital by her son-in-law, the victim’s husband,’ quoted on Friday (6/3/2026). Several staff members can be seen blocking the mother from filming her daughter’s condition. In the same clip, the mother explains that her daughter had marital problems with her husband that began over a workplace issue. However, the marital discord with her husband led to the woman being admitted to the psychiatric hospital. ‘The perpetrator told his in-laws that he would take his sick wife to a good hospital for treatment. It turns out the wife had been taken to a psychiatric hospital with false grounds for a month,’ the account said. The husband also suggested that the ED doctor at that hospital was a former schoolmate from his high school days. The wife is said to have asked a hospital security guard for help by writing a note on a scrap of paper requesting that the guard contact her mother and family. However, the guard handed the note to the husband, resulting in the woman being admitted to the hospital’s psychiatric ward. In response to the viral video, Soeharto Heerdjan Hospital issued a statement clarifying the procedures for handling patients captured in the video.
