Viral MBG Menu in Lembata, NTT Contains Wriggling Larvae, SPPG Head Responds
A video of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) menu containing larvae has gone viral on social media again. This time, the larva-infested food was found in the MBG menu distributed to students at TK Negeri 3 Nubatukan in Lembata, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).
The MBG menu was supplied by the Nutrition Fulfilment Service Unit (SPPG) 01 Lamahora. Based on the circulating video, several larvae were seen wriggling on the chicken meat served on the MBG container.
“This is larvae, there are many inside the meat. It’s all larvae. Is today’s MBG stewed chicken or what?” said someone in the video viewed by detikBali on Friday (17/4/2026).
The head of SPPG MBG 01 Lamahora, Hanny Chandra, revealed that a total of 3,200 MBG containers were distributed. Hanny denied that the food from the MBG kitchen contained larvae.
“It’s all larvae, that’s not true. Only one container, but we also didn’t find any larvae. And the teacher said the larvae got into the meat,” said Hanny when confirmed on Friday.
Hanny admitted to receiving a reprimand from the Regent of Lembata, Kanis Tuaq, after the larva-infested MBG menu went viral on social media. However, she stated that the accusations of larva-infested food need to be proven.
“Last night I received a stern reprimand from the Regent of Lembata. But I said it’s in the clarification process,” Hanny added.
Hanny requested the Health Department to check the chicken meat in the laboratory. “We have to talk with evidence. We will provide an explanation. We ask the Health Department (Dinkes) to check the rotten chicken from yesterday in the laboratory,” she concluded.
