Viral Mass Resignation After Salary Cuts and Arrears, RSI Unisma Responds

The entire inpatient pharmacy team at Rumah Sakit Islam (RSI) Unisma in Malang, East Java, has gone viral after resigning en masse. The hospital’s management has issued a response. The employees stated their decision was not solely due to workload, but rather an accumulation of deep disappointment over management’s salary policies, which included three months of unpaid wages followed by a 50 per cent cut. In a social media post that went viral, a former employee representative explained that the inpatient pharmacy unit was forced to shut down completely after the staff walked out together in July 2026. The main trigger for the wave of resignations was the drastic reduction in financial rights. The employees claimed the payroll system at the private hospital had progressively worsened over time. Initially, salaries were paid in instalments, then they were not paid at all for three months. The situation culminated in a policy that slashed their nominal wages by 50 per cent. ‘It was not because of work pressure, as everything was relative and still commensurate with the salary at that time,’ wrote the account @iniaku9395. Amid the uncertainty over their slashed pay, the pharmacy team’s workload remained high. As a vital service unit, they were required to be on standby to run operations with a three-shift system, but without adequate welfare compensation. The former employees deemed this condition unhealthy. Meanwhile, the management of RSI Unisma stated they do not yet have exact data on the total number of pharmacy staff who resigned en masse. The management claimed they are currently focusing fully on maintaining the stability of medical services for patients following the internal dispute. ‘For the colleagues who resigned, we in management respect their choice. We respect their choice to pursue a career anywhere. We wish them all the best wherever they are,’ said RSI Unisma Human Resources Development staff member Nofa Diana. Nofa also confirmed that the salary cut case has reached the stage of a summons by the Malang City Manpower and Transmigration Office.
