A man in Tangerang City, Banten, named Dedi Saputra became a victim of assault. The incident began when Dedi protested after his cat was netted and was about to be discarded.

The confrontation went viral on social media. Dedi has reported the case to Metro Tangerang City Police Station.

According to detikcom on Tuesday (17 March 2026), several people were involved in a quarrel with Dedi. In another video, a cat had been caught using a net. To prevent the cat from escaping, someone placed a stone and flipped the net’s opening. The cat was reportedly to be placed in a sack and disposed of.

“Put it in a sack, we’ll take it to the crocodile farm,” said someone in the video.

In another video, a heated argument is visible between Dedi who was recording and several men. During this confrontation, some individuals claimed they were not afraid of being reported to the police. The verbal altercation escalated with footage showing the recorder apparently about to be physically attacked.

The incident was posted by Instagram account Lira Bica, @lirabica. She stated that the alleged perpetrators’ actions constituted animal cruelty.

Lirabica, founder of the animal welfare community Lirabica Center, accompanied the victim, Dedi Saputra, in filing a report at Metro Tangerang City Police Station. The victim’s report number is LP/B/1862/XI/2025/SPKT/Polres Metro Tangerang Kota.

According to the report, the incident occurred on 17 November 2025 at 19.51 WIB in the Batuceper area, Tangerang City. Initially, Dedi saw two men catching a cat. He then remonstrated because his cat was being caught by the two men. One of the alleged perpetrators became offended and an argument ensued between the complainant and the accused.

Subsequently, Dedi was pushed repeatedly towards his chest whilst being choked around the neck. Dedi did not resist until finally he was separated by security personnel and residents of the housing complex.

“Following the incident, the complainant experienced pain in the neck and chest, and felt shortness of breath,” the police report stated.

Meanwhile, Lirabica stated that the accused frequently catches cats, places them in sacks, and disposes of them. Lirabica said that the whereabouts of Dedi’s cat, which she had defended, remained unknown.

“It is not only Pak Dedi’s cat, but also those of other residents. This person is extremely arrogant and intimidating towards residents, causing the residents of Arcadia Batuceper to live in fear,” said Lirabica.

Detikcom attempted to request confirmation from Metro Tangerang City Police Station. However, as of publication, there has been no response.
