Viral Lecturer at UIN Semarang Allegedly Harasses Female Students via WhatsApp, Campus Launches Investigation
Allegations of harassment by a lecturer at UIN Walisongo Semarang emerged from an Instagram account. The account posted a complaint from a student complaining about a lecturer who is said to be troubling female students.
The post showed text messages from the alleged perpetrator, the lecturer, to the female students. In the WhatsApp chats, the lecturer asked the female students to provide vulgar photos and made indecent remarks.
When confirmed separately, the Deputy Chairman of the Student Executive Board (DEMA) of UIN Walisongo, Yusuf Aditya Pratama, said that they are currently coordinating and gathering data regarding the alleged case. As of now, he has not obtained exact data on the number of victims. However, he confirmed that there is more than one victim.
“From several pieces of information related to it, it can be confirmed that there is more than one. (More than two?) Yes, it seems more than two,” he said as quoted by detikJateng, Thursday (7/6/2026).
DEMA, along with several parties on campus, will form a special investigation team to follow up on the alleged sexual harassment. Coordination is being carried out with the PPKS Task Force, the dean’s ethics team, and the gender studies centre.
The Public Relations of UIN Walisongo Semarang, Astri, also confirmed the alleged case. Currently, the Centre for Gender and Child Studies (PSGA) at UIN Walisongo is forming an investigation team to investigate the alleged sexual harassment case.
“Here, there is a centre for gender and child studies, they are forming an investigation team, it’s still in process now,” she said.
