Viral: KRL Passenger's Missing iPhone Found After Three Days at Tanah Abang

A commuter line (KRL) passenger has been reunited with a mobile phone that had been missing for three days. The passenger had been unaware that his iPhone had fallen at Tanah Abang Station in Central Jakarta whilst travelling.

Leza Arlan, Public Relations officer at KAI Commuter Indonesia (KCI), said the missing phone had been found and returned to the passenger. According to Leza, the incident began when a passenger boarded at Jatake Station on Friday (11/9) at 10.00 local time.

The male passenger alighted at Tanah Abang Station to change trains at platform 5/6 and realised that his iPhone 15 was no longer with him. Leza explained that the search and recovery took place three days after the loss was reported.

“Our officers conducted a follow-up search after the passenger’s friend tracked the device using a tracking application. The search focused on the coordinate points obtained from tracking by another device,” Leza explained in a written statement on Tuesday (15/9/2026).

In a video circulating online, security officers and other staff at Tanah Abang Station can be seen helping the passenger search for the missing phone. Commuters on social media praised the officers’ swift response in helping to locate the item.

“Several of our officers made efforts to find the phone and succeeded in locating it on platform 1 of Tanah Abang Station,” Leza said in the press statement.

KAI Commuter urged all passengers to keep a close eye on their belongings and to remain vigilant and careful both in station areas and on board Commuter Line trains.

“For your safety, do not hesitate to report to station staff,” Leza concluded.
