Viral KRL in Palmerah Allegedly Pelted with Stones, Startling Passengers

A video showing a KRL commuter train travelling from Palmerah towards Tanah Abang allegedly being pelted with stones by a crowd has gone viral on social media. Kereta Commuter Indonesia (KCI) is coordinating with security forces over the incident.

The circulating video shows the train moving after being briefly held up by a crowd. Shortly after the train passed the crowd, a sound resembling an object striking the window was heard.

The incident reportedly occurred on Friday morning, 28 August 2026, startling passengers and causing them to scream.

"Awww…. Astagfirullah. What is that?" a passenger shouted, as seen in the video.

When asked for confirmation, KAI Commuter Public Relations Manager Leza Arlan confirmed the incident took place that morning. KCI has coordinated with local security forces regarding the matter.

"Regarding the crowd, we will certainly coordinate with local security forces to prevent vandalism such as stone-throwing," Leza Arlan said in a statement.

Leza said that so far there has been no damage to the train as a result of the incident.

"So far there has been no damage to the rolling stock as a result of today’s crowd incident," she said.

Leza Arlan said the company is committed to providing security and safety on Commuter Line journeys. She also urged the public not to damage public facilities so that railway infrastructure can continue to be used.

"We urge the entire community not to damage public facilities. Together, let us help maintain railway facilities and infrastructure," she added.
