The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has urged content creators to be wiser in making and disseminating content on social media. The appeal came after a video went viral narrating the practice of ‘Indian-style massage’ accompanied by the serving of alcoholic beverages in the Danau Sunter area, North Jakarta. Special Staff to the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Chico Hakim, said the provincial government appreciates the concern of residents and traders who reported the issue. His party will continue to maintain order and comfort in public spaces. “We appreciate the concern of local residents and traders who felt disturbed. The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government consistently maintains order and comfort in public spaces, including recreational areas such as Danau Sunter,” Chico told reporters on Sunday (19/7/2026). He stated that the sale and serving of alcoholic beverages in public spaces is strictly regulated. He confirmed that supervision and enforcement against violators will continue. “The sale and serving of alcoholic beverages in public spaces is strictly regulated according to applicable regulations, and we continue to conduct supervision and take action against violations,” he said. Chico also urged content creators and the public to be wiser in using social media. He asked the public to avoid content that could cause unrest. “Our appeal to all content creators and the public is to use social media wisely, responsibly, and positively. Avoid content that can cause public unrest or a negative impression of the Jakarta area,” he said. “Let us work together to maintain Jakarta’s image as a safe, comfortable, and family-friendly city. We invite all parties to contribute to building educational and entertaining narratives without disturbing public order,” he added. Previously, the Tanjung Priok District Public Order Agency (Satpol PP) confirmed that the viral video narrating the practice of ‘Indian-style massage’ accompanied by the serving of alcoholic beverages in the Danau Sunter area, North Jakarta, did not match the conditions on the ground. Officers stated that the information circulating on social media was merely content. This confirmation was delivered after Tanjung Priok District Satpol PP, together with the North Jakarta City Administration Satpol PP, conducted a direct inspection of the location on Friday (18/7). “Officers conducted checks and clarifications with traders, residents, and community leaders around the location. Based on the results of the field examination, no massage service activities or serving of alcoholic beverages were found as reported,” wrote Tanjung Priok District Satpol PP via its official Instagram account on Saturday (18/7). Satpol PP emphasised that the information circulating on social media did not match the actual conditions at Danau Sunter. “The circulating information is known to be merely social media content and does not correspond to the actual conditions at the location,” it stated.
