Principal named Ari Wibowo reprimanded the party burning rubbish next to the wall of his school located in Tanah Tinggi, Ciputat, South Tangerang (Tangsel), Banten.

“Yes, we often encounter it near the school wall. I gently reprimanded them, ‘Why burn it? There’s a school here, the smoke affects the pupils,’” said Ari on Friday (8/5/2026).

In the video he uploaded, thick smoke from burning rubbish is visible rising above the school boundary wall. The rubbish burning was carried out on the road next to the school on Wednesday (6/5).

He said he deliberately reprimanded the party scattering the rubbish because pupils have the right to learn in a healthy environment. He mentioned that at the time, the pupils were about to go home, while the smoke from burning rubbish was starting to disturb many parties.

“So that was around 11 o’clock, just before the children went home from school. Then there was smoke, I investigated. Before I reprimanded them, parents were already about to message the school admin, ‘Hey Mr Ari, good thing you came out, we were just about to report this smoke,’” he said.

He said the party he reprimanded then extinguished the rubbish burning. Ari once invited them to collaborate on processing rubbish into useful and environmentally friendly items.

“I invited collaboration based on solutions to process rubbish into compost,” he said.

Ari said that at his school, pupils are also given insights into loving the environment, including processing organic waste, plastic, and electronic waste. They also collaborate with neighbourhood associations (RT and RW) in maintaining the environment.

“Moreover, in Tangsel, there is already a regional regulation prohibiting burning rubbish, with fine penalties. So we teach pupils to become earth warriors, protecting the surrounding environment,” he said.
