Viral Fruit Seller on Bogor Highway in East Jakarta Rages During Satpol PP Enforcement
Officers from Satpol PP conducted an enforcement operation against street vendors (PKL) on Jalan Raya Bogor in the Ciracas area, East Jakarta (Jaktim). The officers faced rejection and resistance from one of the vendors. The vendor, dressed in red, even placed her toddler in the Satpol PP truck because she was unhappy with the enforcement action. An older child cried hysterically upon seeing the toddler being put into the Satpol PP truck. The fruit vendor demanded that Satpol PP take the toddler as well as a form of protest against the enforcement by the officers. The atmosphere grew increasingly heated when the vendor brought out an object suspected to be a sharp weapon (sajam) while still protesting against Satpol PP members at the location. The enforcement incident took place on Thursday (9/4) last week. Satpol PP enforced against PKL to smooth traffic flow and provide space for pedestrians on the sidewalk. The head of Satpol PP for DKI Jakarta, Satriadi Gunawan, confirmed the commotion during the enforcement of PKL on Jalan Raya Bogor, Ciracas. He stated that the enforcement was carried out to uphold regional regulations (perda). “We are carrying out our duties and functions in conducting enforcement, and there are also other community rights that need to be considered because public order is disrupted. That’s the most important thing,” said Satriadi to detikcom on Friday (10/4/2026). He asked his members to remain humane in carrying out enforcement. He said the enforcement is a routine activity and is carried out according to procedure. “Yes, it’s a routine activity, usually like that, there are many new vendors after Eid, if we don’t tighten the rules now, it will get out of control later,” he said. Satriadi stated that his members also conducted socialisation and persuasion before the enforcement was carried out. He referenced the enforcement of ice vendors in the Jalan HR Rasuna Said area, Kuningan, Setiabudi, South Jakarta, which went viral on social media. “There is persuasion, we have several videos showing officers working according to our SOP as evidence. Usually, netizens highlight the scary moments, the tense moments. But there is a process beforehand,” he said. “Yes, that’s one of the risks of Satpol PP’s work. Like in Rasuna Said, the mother brought an ice pick, then it was slandered. Yes, things like that are risks, but I instruct them to remain professional and humane,” he added.
