Viral: Foreign National Drives Wrong Way in Sanur, Near Miss with Motorcyclist
A video showing a car allegedly driven by a foreign national driving the wrong way at the McDonald’s Sanur junction in Denpasar on Saturday, 30 May 2026, has gone viral on social media. Instagram posts from @sesetanpost and @balicaption showed the vehicle in the opposite lane to traffic flow, nearly colliding with a motorcyclist passing by. The incident took place at the McDonald’s Sanur junction, one of Denpasar’s busiest traffic points. Fortunately, no accident or casualties occurred. However, the motorcyclist became angry and assaulted the driver, who was subsequently restrained by bystanders. The video received widespread online comments, with many criticising the driver for allegedly ignoring traffic rules and endangering other road users. As of this report, the police have not released official statements regarding the driver’s identity or the incident’s full details. “We are still investigating,” said Iptu I Gede Adi Saputra Jaya, Head of the Public Relations Section (Kasi Humas) of Denpasar Police Department, when contacted. Adi urged the public to always comply with traffic signs and regulations to ensure road safety for all.
