Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia - Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa has spoken out regarding the viral information about the procurement of electric motorcycles for the operational needs of the Satuan Pelayanan Pemenuhan Gizi (SPPG) bearing stickers of the Badan Gizi Nasional (BGN).

Purbaya acknowledged that last year there was indeed a budget proposal from the BGN for purchasing operational motorcycles, including computers. However, he stressed that the budget was rejected by the Ministry of Finance.

“As far as I know, last year there was a proposal for motorcycles and computers; if I’m not mistaken, it was rejected,” said Purbaya at his office in Jakarta on Tuesday (7/4/2026).

However, specifically for this year’s procurement, he could not yet confirm whether it would be approved or still rejected. According to him, it should also be rejected this year due to the principle of budget efficiency.

“For this year, I don’t know. I will double-check again; it should receive the same treatment,” Purbaya emphasised.

He stressed that it is not that the BGN is not allowed to purchase new operational motorcycles for the SPPG. However, he considers it more important for the SPPG to optimise the food budget in the Makan Bergizi Gratis (MBG) programme.

“It should primarily be for food. For the business side, they have already profited enough; they should be able to source from there. But I will double-check again,” said Purbaya.

Regarding this, BGN Head Dadan Hindayana has also explained that the motorcycle procurement is part of the 2025 budget planning.

The motorcycles are intended to support the operations of the Makan Bergizi Gratis (MBG) programme, particularly for the Heads of Satuan Pelayanan Pemenuhan Gizi (SPPG).

“This motorcycle procurement is indeed included in the 2025 budget. Its function is to support the operations of SPPG Heads,” said Dadan on Tuesday (7/4/2026).

Nevertheless, Dadan assured that the motorcycles have not yet been distributed to the relevant parties. According to him, the available vehicles still need to go through administrative processes as State Goods (BMN) before they can be used.

“The motorcycles have not been distributed. Once everything is complete, they will first be recorded as BMN before distribution,” he explained, adding that the realisation of the motorcycle procurement began gradually in December 2025.

Meanwhile, regarding the information circulating on social media about the procurement reaching 70,000 units, Dadan firmly stated that the news is untrue or a hoax. Dadan hopes that the public does not easily fall for unverified information and can understand that the procurement is part of the government’s efforts to ensure the smooth implementation of the MBG Programme throughout Indonesia.

“The information about 70,000 units is not true,” he emphasised.

“The total realisation of electric motorcycles is 21,801 units out of 25,000 units ordered in 2025,” Dadan stated.
