JAKARTA – A concert attendee was charged Rp 200,000 by an informal motorcycle taxi driver at Gelora Bung Karno (GBK) stadium in Central Jakarta, despite agreeing to pay only Rp 20,000, sparking viral outrage on social media on Monday, 2 March 2026.

According to a post shared by TikTok user @anothrvz, the attendee described the frustrating experience: “In this era, why are there still motorcycle taxi drivers willing to deceive customers? After the concert, my legs were cramping and I could barely walk, so I decided to take a motorcycle taxi to the car park at an agreed rate of Rp 20,000 for two people (since it was close—only 6 minutes from the GBK main entrance to Senayan Park). Upon arrival, I was charged Rp 200,000 with all sorts of excuses.”

Kompas.com confirmed the post with the account owner @anothrvz, who was granted permission for the story.

The user, known as Pessyaa, said the incident occurred after attending the second day of a music concert at GBK’s Stadion Madya on Sunday, 1 March 2026.

“I had been at the concert venue from afternoon until night whilst fasting, so my body was not feeling well,” Pessyaa explained. “Walking to the car park across Senayan Park was not feasible—it’s about 1 kilometre—and with the crowded conditions, we had no mobile signal until reaching Senayan Park.”

As a result, Pessyaa and a companion decided to use an informal motorcycle taxi service. They selected one of the drivers wearing green motorcycle taxi jackets operating within the GBK grounds.

According to Pessyaa, numerous informal motorcycle taxi operators wearing green jackets were present in the GBK area.

Pessyaa recalled that he initially mentioned a fare of Rp 10,000. The driver responded that the motorcycle taxi rate would not be significantly different from application-based services.

“We agreed to pay Rp 10,000 each, totalling Rp 20,000 for two motorcycles. However, during the ride, my driver (the one in the video) said, ‘I’m a new motorcycle taxi driver here, just ask the one in front (the driver with my friend) about the fare,’” Pessyaa recounted.
