Viral CCTV Footage Shows Shoplifting Gang in Action at Cibinong Minimarket, Police Investigate
CCTV footage showing a gang of thieves operating in a minimarket in Cibinong, Bogor Regency, has gone viral on social media. Police are investigating the perpetrators.
“That’s correct, we have inspected the crime scene and secured the CCTV recordings. We are still conducting an investigation,” said the Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit at Cibinong Police Station, AKP Yuni Pangestu, when asked for confirmation on Thursday (19/2/2026).
In the circulating CCTV footage, a gang of thieves comprising men and women can be seen in a corner of the shopping centre. In the video, the female perpetrator is busy selecting items, which are then placed into a basket on the floor.
Meanwhile, the male perpetrator transfers the items from the basket into a pre-prepared shopping bag until it is full. The bag filled with stolen goods is then carried out by the female perpetrator, who casually walks out of the minimarket.
AKP Yunli said the theft captured in the viral CCTV footage occurred on Tuesday (17/2), at approximately 7.00 pm Western Indonesian Time. The total number of perpetrators at the time of the incident is believed to be three.
“The theft was recorded by CCTV cameras at the location, revealing that it took place on Tuesday (17/2) at around 7.00 pm. The CCTV footage shows three individuals carrying out the theft,” said Yunli.
The theft came to light when the store manager checked the inventory and suspected that goods worth Rp 4.2 million were missing. The suspicion was confirmed when the store manager and other employees reviewed the in-store CCTV recordings.
The theft resulted in losses of up to Rp 4.2 million for the minimarket. “The footage shows two women and one man who carried out the theft of the goods,” said Yunli.
“As for the types of goods stolen, we have not yet received that information. To date, the victim has not filed a formal report,” he added.
