Viral Ban on Early Eid Prayer, Kedungwinong Village Head in Sukoharjo Speaks Out
The head of Kedungwinong Village, Miyadi, has clarified the viral rumour circulating on Facebook social media regarding the Eid al-Fitr 1447 H prayer in Kedungwinong Village, Nguter Subdistrict, Sukoharjo Regency, being disbanded. He stated that his side did not disband it but is only implementing the village government’s agreement to hold Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha prayers once only.
Quoted by detikjateng on Friday (20/3/2026), he said that the agreement was reached between the Village Government, LP2A, the Mosque Takmir, and village-wide prayer rooms. That agreement eliminates the activity of praying twice.
“We from the village government are only implementing the agreement, the consensus of the Village Government, LP2A, Mosque Takmir, village-wide prayer rooms in Kedungwinong that there is no twice-prayer activity in Kedungwinong,” he said when met at the Kedungwinong Village Office on Friday (20/3).
Miyadi said that the agreement has been in place for a long time. For this year’s Eid al-Fitr prayer, he said that a meeting was held before Eid.
“Whenever there is an activity, we always deliberate. So last Ramadan, I forget the date, in this Ramadan LP2A held a meeting and that was the agreement. However, this agreement is a carryover from a long time ago, from the previous administration. Long before that, it was already like this in Kedungwinong,” he explained.
He said that the implementation of Eid al-Fitr prayer once only has been happening for a long time. “I forget how many years, but previously it was indeed like this. Earlier, the elderly village elder was present, it was indeed like that in the agreement back then,” he added.
After mediation with the Jami’ul Khoir Mosque and the Sukoharjo Regency Muhammadiyah, his side will conduct an evaluation and allow if anyone holds the prayer earlier.
“We also guarantee that if it happens twice, I will still be responsible for securing it. We have no prohibition at all. Yes, I will evaluate it. LP2A is present today, present today. Those not present are the takmir or the community. Insyaallah tomorrow I will convey during the Eid Prayer to the Kedungwinong community that today’s agreement is like this and we must obey, we must implement the earlier agreement. I have made a statement, meaning I am responsible for escorting my statement,” he concluded.
