Viral 'B' Plate Car Extorted in Bandung's Dago Atas, Suspects Arrested
Police have arrested a youth suspected of being a football supporter who went viral for extorting a ‘B’ plate car in Dago Atas, Bandung. Coblong Police Chief Kompol Riki Erickson stated the extortion was motivated by the perpetrators seeking extra money for drinking. He noted they were influenced by alcohol and wanted to buy more liquor. ‘Initially, during the euphoria, they were drinking together. So at that time, perhaps they were short on money or something, they asked for money to buy more drinks,’ Riki said, citing detikcom, Sunday (31/5). The incident occurred on Saturday (23/5), shortly after Persib Bandung celebrated winning the 2025/2026 Super League title. The suspects are believed to be Bobotoh members celebrating the championship. In the circulating video, the perpetrator was shirtless, wearing only a scarf around his neck. The man identifying himself as ‘Demon’ interrogated the driver about their hometown. After learning the victim was from outside Bandung, he demanded money under the pretext of ensuring safe travel, threatening to destroy the vehicle if demands weren’t met. ‘Add more… add more… add more… will smash it in front, already coordinated with Demon,’ the suspect said. ‘Whatever, whether it’s Rp 50,000 or whatever, just whatever,’ he added.
