Police have arrested and named a public minivan (angkot) driver, identified by the initials AA (20), following his rampage against a car driver on Jalan Raya Pekayon, South Bekasi, on Saturday (11/7). The assault was recorded on video and circulated on social media, including on the Instagram account @bekasi.terkini. In the uploaded video, the perpetrator is initially seen getting out of his vehicle and approaching the car driver. The perpetrator appeared angry and demanded the victim get out of the car. When ignored, the angkot driver then blocked the other driver’s path. The perpetrator was also recorded trying to punch the victim, but the victim dodged the blow. “We have secured the perpetrator, initials AA, aged 20, and he has been named a suspect,” said South Bekasi Police Chief Kompol Suparmin when confirmed on Monday (13/7). “He is charged under the article on vandalism. The punch did not land because the victim dodged it,” he continued. Suparmin revealed that based on the investigation, the suspect acted out of frustration because he could not overtake the victim’s vehicle on the road. “He was annoyed with the victim because he couldn’t overtake. He got out, then placed a flower pot in front of the victim’s car, they argued, the victim was almost punched, and his car was damaged; the door was dented by a punch,” he said.
