Viral Altercation Between Transjakarta Bus Conductor and BYD Driver in West Jakarta, Transjakarta Speaks Out
A video circulating on social media shows a man believed to be a Transjakarta bus conductor involved in a heated exchange with a BYD driver in the middle of the road, generating traffic congestion. In the circulating footage from Thursday 5 March 2026, the conductor wears a blazer with his hands on his hips. He is seen shouting at the car driver and even reaching into the vehicle with his hand. The car doors close and attempt to move off, but the bus conductor continues to pursue the driver while shouting and at one point striking the car door.
When asked for confirmation, Ayu Wardhani, Head of Public Relations and CSR at Transjakarta, confirmed that the man involved is a Transjakarta conductor on Corridor 8 Lebak Bulus-Pasar Baru. The incident occurred in the Kelapa Dua Sasak area on Wednesday 4 March.
“In response to the widely shared incident, between the Lebak Bulus-Pasar Baru (Corridor 8) bus conductor and the private motorist in Kelapa Dua Sasak, Wednesday (4/3),” Ayu said when asked for confirmation on Thursday 5/3/2026.
“PT Transportasi Jakarta (Transjakarta) confirms that it is a conductor of BMP 240369, Corridor 8 (Lebak Bulus-Pasar Baru),” she added.
Ayu explained that Transjakarta had conducted an initial examination. The preliminary findings indicate the altercation was triggered when the private vehicle entered the bus lane.
“The incident began when the private vehicle entered the bus lane. The conductor manoeuvred to avoid a collision, then stopped the bus to communicate with the driver (in the regular lane, after the private driver returned to the regular lane),” Ayu said.
Ayu noted that Transjakarta does not condone the conduct. She said all conductors are required to remain professional and uphold ethical standards.
The agency is continuing a deeper investigation. She said that if a conductor is found to have violated SOPs, they will face sanctions in accordance with the rules.
“Transjakarta does not condone the actions of the conductor involved in the altercation and does not tolerate unprofessional behaviour. All conductors must maintain professionalism and ethics on the road in any circumstance,” Ayu stated.
“At present, we are conducting internal investigations and coaching. If it is proven there was an SOP violation, the conductor will be subjected to strict sanctions.”
