Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Vietnamese automotive manufacturer VinFast has officially launched the second generation VF8 in Vietnam, according to a report carried by CarsCoops on Friday.

The second generation VF8 is considered to be slower in speed than the previous variant.

Currently, the vehicle has only a single electric motor mounted on the front with a power output of 228 hp (170 kW / 231 PS) and powered by a 60.13 kWh battery which is claimed to deliver a range of 500 km (311 miles).

Not only the powertrain was revised, the vehicle’s dimensions have also undergone a slight reduction. The new VF8 measures 4,701 mm (185.1 inches) in length from front to rear, 49 mm (1.9 inches) shorter than the previous model.

The bigger change lies at the bottom where the wheelbase has been shortened by 110 mm (4.3 inches) to 2,840 mm (111.8 inches) from the previous.

Its profile features a rising window line, reminiscent of the Peugeot 2008 and Alfa Romeo Junio, combined with 19-inch aerodynamic wheels and a pronounced rear shoulder.

A digital instrument cluster makes its debut for the first time, paired with a two-spoke steering wheel. Standard equipment includes dual-zone climate control, an eight-speaker stereo, and a full ADAS suite.
