VinFast VF MPV 7 family electric vehicle now locally produced—what’s new?

VinFast has launched the VF MPV 7, now produced locally at the company’s production facility in Subang, West Java. Not only produced locally, VinFast Indonesia CEO Kariyanto Hardjosoemarto said the seven-seat electric vehicle has also undergone several refinements, chiefly the addition of new features. “The Subang-produced VF MPV 7 officially arrives with a more modern design and a range of refinements designed to be more relevant to Indonesian families,” he said in Jakarta on Wednesday. Among features that were not present in the previous version and are now available are Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, then a retractable mirror that can be folded automatically, and a 360-degree camera to further support the practicality of modern driving. Additionally, the one-touch tumble feature is now available on both sides, whereas previously it was on only one side. This feature allows car seats (usually the second row) to fold and tilt automatically with a single pull of a lever or press of a button. It is designed to ease access in and out of the third row and to expand luggage space without hassle. “So these features will certainly make it easier for Indonesian consumers. In terms of specifications, we are almost 80-90 percent the same,” said Rinaldi Ginanjar Ramdani, Head of Training Department VinFast Indonesia. VinFast VF MPV7 has a modern design with LED headlights in the characteristic “V” shape of VinFast. Its dimensions include a length of 4,740 mm, width of 1,872 mm, height of 1,734 mm, wheelbase 2,840 mm, and ground clearance 185 mm, offering a three-row cabin for seven passengers with ample headroom and legroom. The interior features a 10.1-inch infotainment screen, smart connectivity, rear air conditioning ventilation to the third row, and 330 mm water wading capability. The front‑driven electric motor delivers 150 kW (201 hp) and 280 Nm of torque, with 0–100 km/h acceleration in under 10 seconds, according to the company. Its battery capacity is 60.2 kWh, claimed to enable a range of up to 450 km (NEDC) and DC fast charging from 10–70 percent in 30 minutes. Safety features include four airbags, ADAS, ESC, ABS, EBD, Hill Start Assist, and MacPherson and Multilink suspension for ride comfort. VinFast markets the VF MPV 7 at Rp420 million including the battery, while the price of a battery-subscription model is Rp345 million on-the-road for Jakarta sales.
