JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – The Indonesian National Police Traffic Corps (Korlantas) continues to innovate in digital law enforcement on roads. At the 2026 Traffic Function Technical Working Meeting (Rakernis) at STIK-PTIK, Korlantas officially launched the ETLE Drone Patrol Presisi system. Interestingly, the vehicle used as a mobile unit for the ETLE Drone system, as shown in circulating documents, is the compact electric car gaining popularity in Indonesia: the VinFast VF 3. Prominently displayed on the rear bumper is the text ‘ETLE DRONE PATROL PRESISI’, alongside the motto ‘Melindungi, Mengayomi, dan Melayani’ (Protecting, Serving, and Caring) above the doors. The roof is fitted with a rotating light and slim siren typical of modern patrol fleets. The most noticeable modification is at the rear. The side rear windows are covered, and the boot has been reconfigured to house a large box for storing and operating the ETLE Drone unit. The white box features the Korlantas logo and an anemometer (wind speed measuring device) on top. The compact dimensions offer significant advantages for officers in the field, as the VF 3 can navigate smoothly through Jakarta’s traffic jams or pull over on narrow highway shoulders to deploy the drone. Moreover, the VF 3 boasts a ground clearance of 175 mm – relatively high for a city car – supported by 16-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 175/75 R16 tyres. This suspension setup ensures confidence when traversing uneven road surfaces. Under the hood, the VF 3 is powered by a single rear-wheel-drive electric motor. It delivers a maximum output of 40 horsepower and a peak torque of 110 Nm. The energy is supplied by an 18.64 kWh lithium-iron phosphate (LFP) battery. According to internal testing, the compact electric vehicle can travel up to approximately 215 kilometres on a full charge. Charging is also convenient, with a rapid charge from 10% to 70% taking just 36 minutes. This range and charging capability are deemed sufficient to support daily patrol operations for monitoring traffic violations from the air.
