VinFast to Assemble Electric Motorcycles in Subang Plant Starting 2027
VinFast has confirmed it will produce electric motorcycles domestically through an assembly facility located in Subang, West Java, starting in 2027. Chief Executive Officer of VinFast Indonesia E-Motocycle, Yordan Satriadi, explained that all VinFast electric motorcycle units currently sold in Indonesia are imported as completely built-up (CBU) units. However, the Vietnamese automotive manufacturer is preparing a plant in Subang for assembly under a completely knocked down (CKD) scheme. “For now, this year everything is still CBU, but later the CKD will be done in Subang. The plan is to start next year, in 2027,” Yordan said during a launch event in West Jakarta on Saturday (18/7/2026).
VinFast is entering the Indonesian electric motorcycle market by launching three models: the VinFast Evo, VinFast Feliz II, and VinFast Viper. The company offers the Evo at an on-the-road (OTR) price in Jakarta of Rp 17.5 million, the Feliz II at Rp 18.5 million, and the Viper at Rp 22 million, all under a battery subscription scheme. Beyond sales to individual consumers, VinFast is also open to partnerships with various businesses, including for corporate operational vehicle fleets and app-based ride-hailing services. “We are open to everyone. So, we can absorb all of that. We are open to anyone who wants to own our vehicles for company fleets or ride-hailing, we can collaborate,” Yordan stated.
To support its products, VinFast is expanding its electric vehicle ecosystem through the development of a battery swapping network. Together with V-Green, the company currently operates more than 2,000 battery swapping stations across the Greater Jakarta area and other major cities in Java. The company views Indonesia’s motorcycle market, which exceeds six million units per year, as a promising prospect for business development in the two-wheeled electric vehicle segment. Through the domestic production scheme, expansion of the battery swapping network, and development of the electric vehicle ecosystem, Yordan is optimistic that VinFast can strengthen its penetration in Indonesia’s electric motorcycle market. “The market in Indonesia is huge. It is more than six million units per year. This is something very attractive for the two-wheeler business in Indonesia,” he said.
