VinFast Officially Starts Local Assembly of VF MPV 7 in Indonesia, Price Unchanged
JAKARTA — VinFast Indonesia has officially commenced production of battery electric vehicles (BEVs) at its assembly facility in Subang, West Java. The CEO of VinFast Indonesia, Kariyanto Hardjosoemarto, said the first model to enter production is the VF MPV 7, a seven-seat family electric vehicle that debuted at the Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) 2026. ‘Not long ago we inaugurated the VinFast factory in December 2025, and now production has begun. VF MPV 7 is the first model we are assembling at the Subang facility,’ Kariyanto said in Jakarta on Wednesday, 20 May 2026. ‘This is an extraordinary achievement. It not only demonstrates our speed in building a production facility, but also serves as evidence of VinFast’s commitment to supporting the acceleration of an environmentally friendly vehicle ecosystem in Indonesia,’ Kariyanto added. In line with the CKD production launch for the VF MPV 7, VinFast has also implemented a number of minor refinements which it says are tailored to Indonesian consumer needs. ‘The strength of togetherness in Indonesia is a very important aspect. Through this product, we aim to deliver a vehicle that truly matches the needs and preferences of Indonesian families,’ he added. Some adjustments include added connectivity with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, retractable mirrors, 360-degree cameras, and a rear ducktail. As for dimensions and battery capacity, these remain unchanged at 60.2 kWh, so the car still has a maximum power of 201 horsepower and 280 Nm of torque. The range on a full battery is 450 km (NEDC). The car is marketed from Rp 345 million on the road in DKI Jakarta for the battery-subscription scheme, and Rp 420 million for a purchase that includes the battery. ‘Special for the first 2,000 buyers, we are offering a promotional price of Rp 329 million under the battery-subscription scheme,’ Kariyanto said.
