VinFast Monitors Investigation Findings into Green SM Taxi Accident in Bekasi

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – VinFast is still awaiting the results of investigations by authorities into the railway accident involving Green SM taxis in Bekasi, West Java, on 27 April 2026. VinFast Indonesia CEO Kariyanto Hardjosoemarto said the investigation is currently being conducted by multiple agencies, including the National Transport Safety Committee (KNKT) and the police. ‘We sympathise and extend our deepest condolences for the incident. The process is still at the investigation stage by the authorities, KNKT, the police, and several related agencies,’ Kariyanto told reporters in Jakarta on Wednesday, 20 May 2026. Kariyanto explained that Green SM is a separate company that operates as a taxi operator as well as a customer of VinFast. ‘Green SM is a sister company and at the same time our customer. But as the brand holder and owner of the product, we do collaborate and support the entire investigative process by providing the data we possess,’ he said. Nevertheless, he emphasised that the final investigation results will be conveyed entirely by the authorities. ‘What the final outcome will be, of course, a statement will be issued by the relevant party, in this case KNKT,’ he added. For information, Green SM is part of VinFast’s ecosystem in Indonesia, which also includes VinFast Automobile as the operator of the production facility in Subang, VinFast Trading Indonesia for vehicle distribution, and V-Green which handles charging infrastructure. However, Kariyanto stressed that Green SM’s operations run independently. Earlier, in a formal statement, Green SM said it had provided the information required by the authorities and is committed to supporting the ongoing investigation. ‘Safety remains our top priority. We are committed to maintaining high safety standards through our operational systems, supervision, and continuous service improvements,’ Green SM management wrote. It is known that the incident involved a Green SM taxi and resulted in a collision between the Argo Bromo Anggrek train and the KRL Commuter Line at the Bekasi Timur station yard at 20:52 WIB. According to the latest data, the accident caused 14 deaths and dozens of injuries.
