VinFast Expansion: Three Electric Motorcycle Models to Debut in Indonesia in 2026
HANOI, KOMPAS.com – Vietnamese automaker VinFast is further solidifying its steps to enter the electric vehicle market in Indonesia. During a media visit to Vietnam, VinFast officially announced that it will launch its electric motorcycle line in the Indonesian market in June 2026. For the first phase, VinFast is bringing three models at once, which are claimed to be the most suitable for the character and mobility needs of Indonesian society. “The strategy we will use to enter is that we will adopt a different approach to capture this EV market. We will demonstrate the ecosystem owned by VinFast. Friends have already seen battery swap stations everywhere managed by V-Green, of course, that’s the first one,” said Yordan in Hanoi, Vietnam, on Thursday (23/4/2026). In addition to relying on the battery swap system, VinFast is also committed to building a strong after-sales network before the products officially hit the roads. The 3S (Sales, Service, and Spare Parts) dealer network is currently under construction in major cities. “Which cities? Major cities especially on Java Island such as Jakarta, Bandung, Surabaya, and also Bali. Those are our first priorities for opening in this initial session,” added Yordan. With a Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) approach, VinFast is optimistic that their electric motorcycles can compete with conventional (combustion) motorcycles. They are targeting various segments from office workers, students, to the B2B sector such as courier services and online transportation.
