JAKARTA — VinFast has confirmed that four electric motorcycles to be marketed in Indonesia this year will be produced locally at its Subang, West Java facility. However, the plan will only be realised from 2027. In the initial sales phase, all electric scooters will still be imported directly from Vietnam as completely built up (CBU). DCEO of E-Scooter Sales & Distribution Network Expansion VinFast Indonesia, Yordan Satriadi, said that the plan for local production for two-wheeled vehicles has indeed been part of the company’s roadmap, but implementation will be gradual. Meanwhile, in the initial launch phase, the company has prepared four models of electric scooters for the Indonesian market. ‘The models we have prepared now are four models. There are Flazz, there is Viper, there is Evo, and there is Feliz II. Those are what we will launch initially,’ he said. Yordan added that in the future VinFast will still open opportunities to introduce additional models tailored to domestic consumer needs. ‘In the future there will be more models. Please look forward to models that will certainly be very suitable for Indonesian consumers,’ he said. For the initial sales phase, all units of the electric motorcycles will be imported completely in order to be considered for in-country assembly later. ‘For the first phase we will be CBU. So the first sales will still be CBU,’ Yordan said. The collaboration includes plans to open about 30 stores to be built gradually throughout the year in strategic regions such as Jabodetabek (Greater Jakarta), West Java, East Java, and Bali. The move is part of VinFast’s strategy to build an electric vehicle ecosystem in Indonesia, while also laying the groundwork before local electric motorcycle production starts in 2027.
