VinFast electric scooters set to launch this year
Jakarta – Vietnamese electric vehicle maker VinFast is preparing to enter Indonesia’s electric scooter market in the second quarter of this year. The company has prepared several electric scooter models to become the initial product line when sales officially commence.
VinFast Indonesia’s DCEO for E-Scooter Sales & Distribution Network Expansion, Yordan Satriadi, said at least four models have been prepared for the first launch phase. The four models are electric scooters that have previously been marketed by VinFast in other countries, featuring battery-swapping technology.
‘Going forward we will have more models. Please look forward to models that will be very much suited to Indonesian consumers,’ he said.
For the initial phase, all of the electric scooters will still be imported in completely built-up form (CBU) before local assembly is considered. ‘For the first phase this will be CBU. So the initial sales will still be CBU,’ said Yordan.
Regarding the selling price, VinFast has not disclosed official figures. The information will be announced together with the product launch.
As information, VinFast has previously prepared a distribution network for electric motorcycles in Indonesia by partnering with six motorcycle groups. The cooperation includes plans to open around 30 stores that are targeted to operate gradually this year.
In addition to the product, the company is also preparing a supporting ecosystem such as a battery-swapping network developed with V-Green.
